Founded in 2015 by animation duo Matt & Leigh, with a simple vision of creating a place where people are happy working and feel valued. We’re small by design. That means the whole team are animation specialists who love what they do and take great pride in every project, down to the finest detail and final flourish. All while producing quality work for people making a positive impact on the world around us. These are the values that filter through the entire business.

It’s been our ethos from the start to create quality work by pushing our skills and experimenting with new styles and techniques. Collaboration is the backbone of every project. And we’ve assembled an accomplished team that are experts in their field and love what they do.

Matt Cochrane
— Managing Director & Co-founder
Matt is a man of many hats; literally and figuratively. From enduring Excel to living and breathing all things motion, he helps keep the Motel ship on course and smooth sailing. He’s been an editor and animation director for over 10 years. And now, he oversees the studio, bringing our clients’ ideas to life; from creative development, right through to design, animation and final delivery.

Leigh Harrison
— Creative Director & Co-founder
Leigh has a beady eye for detail. He brings that sprinkle of creative magic to our animations so they always exceed the brief and we create something completely unique. With over 20 years experience in the industry, he’s a pro at editing, illustrating and animating, and makes sure everything we deliver is tip top.

Amy Garrod
— Head of Production
Plate-spinner in chief, Amy makes sure that each project runs without a hitch. She’s on hand to guide you through the process and loves getting to the bottom of a problem so we can make great work that everyone is proud of. Amy loves getting under the skin of a new project, nerding out over the brand and subject matter to craft engaging film scripts.

Tom Gamble
— Senior Animator
Tom is a keyframe maestro, composing comical characters and designing beautiful films that make a difference. He’s been in the animation and illustration game for over six years. But he’s always adding exciting new techniques and plug-ins to the mix so our animations have bags of personality.

As active members of SAIL – Sustainable Arts In Leeds, we collaborate with the wider creative community to combat the climate emergency. We have also taken the Clean Creatives pledge that shows our commitment to refusing any future contracts with fossil fuel companies, trade associations, or front groups. We continue to demonstrate our commitment to prompt payment by being a signatory to the Prompt Payment Code. This means we’re committed to paying suppliers or partners promptly and within the agreed payment terms.
