At Little Motel, we love all things characters. Character animation shows off your brand personality. It’s a great way to bring identity and relatability to your messaging. ‘Characters’ doesn’t just mean people either, it can include any creatures or animals that can help bring life and understanding to your topic. Bradford Teaching – Making a difference
Continuing our ongoing collaborations with Bradford Teaching, our film shines a light on the fantastic role teachers play, especially during the lockdowns. To reflect on the challenges and changes of 2020, we interviewed four teachers about their experiences. We designed the characters based on the actual teachers to ground the film in their real-life experiences.

University of Hull – ADVICE App
These films are part of an app, ADVICE, that educates sports coaches about anti-doping values. Each film illustrates different scenarios around fair play and substance use. The app is translated into multiple languages, so we couldn’t use any text or voiceover in the films. Instead, we used the character design to help emphasise emotions and actions, playing up characters’ reactions to the scenarios.

Bruntwood – Platform character animation
Working with our friends over at Blackbox Creative, we created this character animation to show the wide variety of people that share a space at Platform – Bruntwood’s workspace in the heart of Leeds city centre. Bruntwood wanted to challenge the preconceptions people had about the office space feeling ‘too corporate’, so we put our heads together and created a range of eye-catching characters that were working in the space. We brought each of character to life with individual fun quirks and personalised office spaces’ showcasing all Platform offers.

HEE – Primary care career framework
We helped Health Education England to explain the NHS nursing career framework. Our animation shows general practice nurses the many opportunities for their career. We illustrated the different settings and patients, compiling them into a single, big scene that emphasised the breadth of their roles. There were lots of characters to design throughout the film and we worked together to make sure they reflected the diversity of the NHS workforce.
